I have been procrastinating over this collection for quite a while now. And I finally had my first playdate with the OPI Color Paints. The possibilities with this collection are endless!
For today, I am just doing a quick introduction to the collection, and what makes it so special.
What is OPI Color Paints all About?
The OPI Color Paints collection consists of eight blendable, sheer colors and one base color (silver). What makes this so unique is that you can run wild with your creativity. And every single design will be unique with no skill required.
You can layer them over each other to come up with a brand new color. How about a gradient? Ever wanted to try a “Pond” manicure? And of course, my trusted and beloved Saran wrap technique! It doesn’t matter what you want to create; you can do it all with OPI Color Paints.
The OPI collection includes a silver canvas polish that is supposed to help make the colors pop. It does its job great. But when you apply it, you might catch yourselves screaming: Holly streaks, Batman!
I did some research on this problem, and I am not the only one, who came across this. And on the other hand, a lot of reviewers said that just a regular white polish as a base will do the trick too.
My first date with OPI Color Paints
For my first play date, I used the Saran wrap technique. It is one of my favorites and gave me a good idea how these polishes work!
At first I wasn’t going to post any pictures of this, but after a couple of days I changed my mind. Hence, you can see some tip wear in the photos. Hope you don’t mind.
Another problem I had, when I applied my OPI RapiDry Top Coat, the whole design turned cloudy and lost its shine. At first I thought I grabbed the matte top coat by accident, but no, it was my regular fast drying top coat.
When looking into the issue, I found that I am the only one who that happened to (at least under the first three pages of a google search).
I do not know if it is because of the fast drying quality, next time I use these polishes I will make sure to use a regular top coat.
My first impression with OPI Color Paints leaves me with the urge to play with it all day long, and let my inner wild artist free rein! I think that everyone who enjoys painting their nails should have this collection, no matter you skill lever or lack thereof.
OPI Color Paints is available by selected retailers and amazon.com (affiliated link)
